Year 6

Summer Half Term Pre-learning Tasks

Healthy Mind and Body Week

During 'Healthy Mind and Body Week' the pupils in Year 6 were invited to attend 'Wake and Shake' every morning, enjoyed a circus skills workshop, created some of their own healthy snacks and designed a healthy meal with their buddies in reception.

Circus skills focused on developing their balance, core strength and concentration levels and the children had great fun balancing peacock feathers and spinning plates. At the end of the week, the children prepared their own delicious guacamole, hummus, feta and tomato salad and tortillas to share on a grazing table.

Year 6 have had an incredibly busy term and have risen to all the challenges put before them admirably. All positions of responsibility have been allocated and the eco, arts, faith and curriculum councils are all up and running.

The pupils have enjoyed several trips to enhance their learning experiences this term too. In the first week back we attended mass at St Mary's University in Twickenham to view the relics of St Bernadette, which was closely followed by our residential to Normandy. This is a wonderful opportunity for the class to really get to know each other, become more independent and learn to look after themselves and their friends. Upon our return, we visited a local air raid shelter in East Sheen and visited the RAF Museum to support our WW2 studies.

We have finished the term with a number of competitive sports fixtures including football, tag rugby, netball and cross country. The pupils involved have been excellent sporting ambassadors for St Osmund's.
