Reception
Dear Families,
We hope you all had a lovely Easter break. We want to welcome you back to the summer term which will be another busy and exciting one.
We began this week with the children starting their new phonics groups, learning about what a farm is and getting to grips with measuring and the vocabulary we use to describe the length of an object. We are all looking forward to our trip to the farm next week and are hoping for a dry day!
Further on in the term we will be welcoming caterpillars into the classroom to observe their life cycle, have a visit from the Air Ambulance and enjoy our first Pirate day...among other exciting events.
A few reminders from the team -
- Please remember to always ensure that reading books and reading records are in book bags before children come to school every day. Books are changed every Monday and Thursday.
- Library day is Tuesday
- PE: Monday - Children to come in wearing PE kit and stay in it.
Thursday - Children to come in wearing school uniform and PE kit in bag to change into.
As always, thank you for your continued support.
Miss Maddison and Mrs Barry.

Dear families,
Happy New Year and welcome back to the Spring term. Firstly we would like to thank you all for your kind words and gifts, we are very touched by your generosity and support over your child/ren’s first term at St Osmund's.
In Reception we have another busy term ahead. The children are settling into their new phonics groups and are coming back into the classroom excited to tell us what they have been learning. We have also begun our topic on cold lands and winter which has been particularly apt this week with the cold, ice and subtle flurry of snow we have had.
We look forward to our annual Healthy Mind and Body week later on this half term which is set to be full of fun activities to join in with. The children will get the opportunity to taste different foods, make healthy dishes, try a new sport as well as learning about mindfulness and meditation.
Lastly, we have used some of the very generous gift voucher to buy new resources for the classroom. These have now been delivered and we are introducing them for the children to use. They are particularly enjoying the new rug in the book corner and the whiteboards and pens that we are using in handwriting sessions. Thank you again.
Miss Maddison and Mrs Barry.

Dear families,
A warm welcome to all of you at the beginning of this Reception year. We are looking forward to getting to know your children and helping them get started on their learning journey at St Osmund's. Our first topic this term is 'All about me and families' where we will spend time exploring who we are, what makes us unique and how all families are special. The children have already started learning their first set of sounds through the teaching of our phonics scheme Read Write inc. They are all doing really well engaging in these sessions and this will ready each of them for reading and writing in the coming year.
