Healthy Mind and Body Week
A huge welcome back to all our wonderful Year 1 children and families! I hope you had a restful break and are ready for an action-packed term ahead. The classroom is ready, and the stage is set for a season of incredible growth.
Our Learning Adventure
This term, we are diving into some truly inspiring topics:
History (Nurturing Nurses): We will be travelling back in time to meet historical heroes like Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole. The children will learn how these brave women changed nursing forever and how we care for others today.
Science (Plants): As the garden begins to wake up, so will we! We’ll be identifying common wild and garden plants, learning the names of flowers and trees, and even planting our own seeds to watch them grow.
English: Our writing will be inspired by the heartwarming story of Beegu, a friendly alien lost on Earth. We’ll be using our descriptive language and thinking about how to make everyone feel welcome.
Maths: We are becoming "Shape Detectives." We will be exploring the properties of 2-D shapes (like squares and hexagons) and 3-D shapes (like cubes and pyramids), looking for them in the world around us.
I am so excited to see the children’s confidence bloom this Spring. Let’s make it a term full of curiosity and kindness!
