Year 2

NATIVITY 25

Welcome back to our Spring Term. I hope you all had a restful break and I wish you a very happy new year. Thank you for all the extremely thoughtful gifts I received at the end of last term, I was amazed by your generosity and am very grateful - thank you.

We have a lot to pack into this term and we aim to build on the progress and successes made last year.

As we move into 'The National Year of Reading' I urge you all to hear your child read at home and to encourage them to read for pleasure whenever they can.

Thank you for your continued support,

Mrs O'Sullivan

SPRING TERM TOPIC RIVER

Welcome everyone to Year 2. We have been back at school for only 4 weeks but we have already packed in quite a bit, including a visit to Pizza Express to support our DT topic. The class are settling into the routines of the class and are showing their eagerness to get stuck into their learning. It has been a delight to get to know them in the classroom rather than purely saying hello in the playground.

We have started to use some new equipment in maths - rekonreks - and they are helping with addition and subtraction. We are beginning to get a taste of cursive handwriting and reinforcing correct pencil grip as well as correct number and letter formation. Our reader helpers from last year have thankfully returned and I look forward to seeing parents in school to hear the class read too. I can not stress enough how important it is to hear your child read and talk about stories at home. It underpins everything we do at school.

It was great to see so many of you at the introduction to year talk and look forward to getting to know you over the course of the year.

Please see the Topic River to find more detail about what we will be doing this term.
